We’re in Apple’s world now.

Still working on the research for the post regarding our media dependency. But speaking of media dependency…

Check this out.

Are you serious Apple?

This picture is one of the handful of pictures found today on Mashable. Apple is considering a few different concepts.. for watches. W-a-t-c-h-e-s. The one item that was built to do ONE thing: tell time. But, thanks to today’s media and technology crazed society, we have to make it do more than one thing apparently. Can you tell I’m not a fan? Call me old fashioned, but a watch is supposed to tell time. That’s it.

So the first concept, would be to have a watch that has a curved glass plate, essentially, the front screen of a phone type of feel. This watch would basically mirror an iPhone- it has a home button, it locks, and it tells time. This watch would also tell you what day it is, and what the weather is outside as well- everything your iPhone, iPad, iPod, i-whatever, already does. There is another watch concept that allows the watch users to participate in FaceTime as well.

So what do you guys think about these iWatch concepts? Are they fascinating? Are you totally not impressed? Send me some feedback on your thoughts!

If the screen is going to be large enough to view apps like FaceTime, this will be quite a sizeable accessory, regardless of how thin the material is. Can’t say I’m a big fan of the look.

Google glasses are a more innovative concept. Although I wouldn’t wear them either!

  2. Not going to lie- I’m an Apple geek, so yeah, I’d probably buy it.

I think that Apple lacks the innovation that the company once had with Steve Jobs. It seems like they are just making the same product, but just making it faster and smaller. I want something else- other than a smaller iPad, a thinner iPhone- I want a product that I don’t realize that I need!

I’m not sure how I feel about the iWatch either. The more things that become “smart,” I begin to wonder how much more dependent we become on technology. These “smart” products are starting to take over our lives! Yes, it’s nice to check the weather on your phone, tablet, car, computer, and TV; however, do we need to be connected in every aspect of our lives? Enough is enough!

iWatch, uggggg! Enough “i” whatevers already! I knew there was a reason I never bought an iphone. . .

I like it. At the end of the day, consumers want it all in the most convenient of places. This watch meets consumer demands. (And remember, at one point, someone was saying that all a phone was supposed to do was make calls.)

That looks awesome! If I had money to burn I’d totally get one and pretend like I was a time traveler because that totally looks like a time travelers watch. Downside would be that I would be hyperaware of my wrist and freak out anytime it hit or brushed against anything that was harder than a down comforter.

I never wear a watch. People ask me how I can tell the time, and I say: “By my phone.” Apple is just trying to find a way to monetize this. Can’t blame them for trying.

    • My thoughts as well. I rarely wear a watch as is. My phone can do all the watch can and way more. I’m not mad at Apple for trying by any means. I’m a huge fan of the company and its products. In this case, I feel like sales numbers will determine future direction for the corporation.
